5/20/2021 Reimagining the Extension Internship
Cathy Carr, Director of Alumni and Career Services, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, University of Florida
Charlotte Emerson, Director of Student Development and Recruitment, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, University of Florida

This interactive presentation will explore how UF/IFAS CALS (academic programs) worked collaboratively with UF/IFAS Extension to improve the Extension internship experience, educate students about the land-grant university, increase awareness of the Extension minor, and increase the pipeline of talented students interested in pursuing a career in Extension. We'll explain why and how we revamped the UF Extension internship program to include an earlier application deadline for both students and agents and the creation of a 1-credit course to create a cohort-based experience for interns. We will also discuss how donors were engaged through the internship capstone experience. Participants will be engaged as we use small-group discussions

The content included on a website holds the potential to encourage mutual understandings and help individuals to create or reinforce connections with a brand or organization. Careful consideration to content, images, and messaging in regard to diversity, equity, and inclusion should be taken into account when planning communication efforts. During this workshop, the presenters will share findings from a content analysis of land-grant university college websites and offer suggestions to attendees on how to advance diversity and inclusion on their websites.

6/2/2021 Prospecting Before During and After...
Kelly Delp, Director of Development, College of Agriculture, Purdue University
April Shepherd, Director of Development, College of Agriculture, Purdue University

Before the pandemic development officers spent a lot of time on the road visiting alumni and donors. In an effort to get more visits with local alumni, Purdue University used a new strategy to engage local alumni in the summer of 2019. Fast forward ten months and the world changed. We took the idea we had to engage more local alumni and adapted it for a virtual setting. Join us for this session and we will tell you about both of our strategies for local and virtual visits.
